Women of the ELCA (WELCA)

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.”

Our WELCA group at Alamance Lutheran Church meets the first Tuesday of each month, except July, at 7PM at the church. All are welcome! We grow together in sharing our talents.

Activities Sponsored by WELCA in our congregation:

  • A New Members Dinner each Spring
  • A rose on the altar for a new baby
  • Gifts to shut-ins at Thanksgiving
  • A Spring and Fall Gathering at a local congregation
  • Annual NC WELCA Gathering in late May or early June
  • Packages to Troops when a member is in Service to our Country, also  to a friend or relative in Service who is on our prayer list

We welcome ideas to engage women of every age and circumstance, knowing that for some, being available for evening meetings can be difficult.

You may contact Rhoda Weinbach if you have any questions. Our President is Linda Jo Smith.
